Got a Question? Just Ask
Do you stun prior to slaughter?
The current abattoir we use, is HMC approved and therefore does not stun the animals they process. We have worked with them over several years and found their handling to work well.
They are based in Lancaster and despite the fact that there are several slaughterhouses closer to home, this abattoir has had no reported animal rights abuses and we can attest the same from what we have seen ourselves.
Where does the weight measurement come from?
The weight of the product is taken after slaughter, before fat and trimmings are removed. this is industry standard practice. Although some customers choose to keep the trimmed offal and fat, most prefer it to be removed from their selected cuts.
How far in advance will I know if stock is available?
Those who follow us on Facebook and Instagram, along with newsletter subscribers, will receive notice of incoming stock, 6 weeks prior to availability.
Please call, email or message us, if you like to pre-order, to avoid missing out.
Can I get Qurbani meat?
We currently do not offer Qurbani, despite the interest. The reason being bookings at the abattoir need to be taken many months in advance. With delays and uncertainty at this current time and with the possibility of animal mix up due to large numbers of livestock going through, Qurbani purchases will possibly be available in the future when these issues can be ironed out
Can I just buy parts of a lamb/ sheep e.g. shoulder/ leg /ribs only?
Individual cuts, such as shoulder or ribs etc would not receive the discount that bulk purchases, such as half or full meat boxes would provide. In addition to delivery charges on top of that, we feel that this would escalate the prices too significantly on an already premium product.
Added to this is the additional background work involved in preparing, organising and delivering these small pieces of itinerary. We’re still farmers, with all the daily chores to complete at the end of the day, therefore keeping our offerings as simple as possible helps give us more time and energy to dedicate to you, in the limited line of quality products that we do offer.
Can I purchase any time of year/when is meat available?
We source all of our livestock from our small family from, therefore we invariably have limited stock. Coupled with the fact that we are emulate as close as possible natures processes, our products are seasonably based.
Lambs are born in spring around May and are ready in the late autumn.
Mutton is available in the early new year.
Hogget is available in the early Spring.
We will give notice in advance of when these become available, follow us on Facebook, Instagram and join our newsletter to get news on the latest up coming quality offerings.

Is the meat frozen or cooled?
The bulk of our produce will be delivered fresh from the butcher in a refrigerated state below 4 degrees Celsius. For any customers who wish to have more flexibility, we can offer frozen deliveries.
The cool boxes and ice packs we use to package and insulate our products are from the eco-friendly company Woolcool.
